Police Unity Tour History

In May 1997, the Police Unity Tour was organized, by Officer Patrick P. Montuore of the Florham Park (NJ) Police Department, in an effort to bring about public awareness of law enforcement officers that have died in the line of duty and to honor their sacrifices. The tour started with 18 riders on a bicycle ride from Florham Park to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial (NLEOM) in Washington D.C. which raised $18,000.

The tour has grown considerably since those humble beginnings.  In 2009, almost 1,200 riders participated, starting from various points across the United States and ending simultaneously at the NLEOM in Washington, D.C. Since 1997, the Police Unity Tour has raised almost $7,000,000.00 for the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund. The 2009 Police Unity Tour was the most financially successful ride to date. We were proud to deliver $1,300,000.00 to the Memorial Fund.
